Hi, I’m Natalie.
And I have always been a performer. Since the ripe old age of 2, I was finding a microphone, making the kitchen my stage and hamming it up. Safe to say, I’ve always liked the spotlight, but what is at the root of that is sharing stories. Storytelling in all forms- through song, through acting, and most recently through interview. I launched my podcast, Family Meal, at the end of May after realizing that I knew very little about my own family’s food history. Despite knowing that my grandpa opened a restaurant in Hyde Park, Mellow Yellow, I didn’t know the details, the real blood, sweat, and tears version. And then I realized, every family- whether it’s a family formed of close friends, a family you form in a restaurant, or the family you grew up with- has those hilarious and heart-wrenching stories and recipes. Family Meal, at its core, is about sharing those family secrets and preserving them for future generations. It’s about good food, honest conversation, and the notion that sharing a meal always brings people closer together.
It’s a creative project I’m really proud of- and am still tweaking and figuring out how to make it better- but it’s out in the world ready to be consumed! You can find it on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, and Stitcher. Feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org any suggestions, comments, and folks you think I should interview. This will be an ongoing venture while I continue to pursue my acting career in LA (I have a hard time sitting still! Too many stories to share! Must keep creating instead of waiting for the old phone to ring!). So pull up a chair, grab a plate and dig into Family Meal.
